Manx Wildlife Trust (MWT) is looking to recruit a Head of Engagement to lead their public engagement work across the Isle of Man (IOM). MWT are the largest conservation charity in the Island, in their 53rd year, with a team of friendly, passionate, environmentally minded, dynamic, and supportive staff and volunteers.

The Head of Engagement will work alongside David Bellamy, MWT Head of Conservation & Land, and have the wonderful opportunity to lead MWT’s Engagement Team. This comes at an exciting time for MWT, with increasing importance, reach, and impact for the charity and their work. The role is directly responsible for the day-to-day management of all aspects of public engagement and linked income generation activities for MWT.

The role involves delivering a range of functions, including managing public and corporate membership, supporting MWT’s volunteers and delivering education, events, wider fundraising, advocacy and communicating MWT’s vision, mission, conservation achievements, and impact, to a range of audiences. The overarching aim being to raise awareness of the value of MWT’s work, building and nurturing their supporter base, encouraging people and organisations to engage with and support MWT and their work, and maximising opportunities for further investment in conservation. Ultimately, to make biodiversity conservation relevant and connect people in the IOM more strongly to nature.

Graham Makepeace-Warne, MWT’s incoming CEO said: “It’s wonderful for me to be able to recruit my own replacement. Having developed this role over the last 7+ years, I have firsthand experience of just how varied and satisfying it is. This is an exciting time to be in conservation engagement in the IOM with our recent purchase of the 1,124-acre Glen Auldyn site for Temperate Rainforest restoration supported by Aviva and The Wildlife Trusts and the development of our flagship engagement site, Hairpin Woodland Park with support from the Rotary Club of Douglas. I think it's particularly nice that this vacancy has arisen as the result of internal staff development and progression.”
