This website is run by Manx Wildlife Trust (Registered Charity number 225 IOM). Manx Wildlife Trust is committed to protecting your privacy. It is very important to us and we respect anyone's concerns about maintaining it. This statement tells you how and why we use your information.

Certain areas of this website require you to register or give us personal details including credit or debit card details. We do not store payment card details, nor do we share customer details with any parties other than with the Wildlife Trust you are making a donation to or contacting via this website where you have agreed to this. The Wildlife Trust you have donated to may get in touch with you by email if you have opted to receive more information when submitting your donation. You can opt out of receiving these updates at any time. Registration is voluntary. However, if you do not wish to register, you will be unable to access these restricted areas, such as the shop. The majority of the website does not require you to register to access content.

Manx Wildlife Trust (MWT) has processes in place to ensure that your data is handled in compliance with the General Date Protection Regulations (GDPR).  This covers 6 Principles:

Lawfulness, fairness and transparency

We ask for your personal data for the legitimate interest of being able to manage your membership, volunteering, employment or other relationship with MWT. 

We ask for your consent to allow us to keep you up to date with events and other MWT activities in which you may be interested including fundraising and volunteering.

We collect your data for explicit and legitimate purposes in relation to your specific involvement with MWT, for example, as a member, volunteer, employee or contractor.

We only collect personal data which is adequate, relevant and limited to what is necessary to the purposes for which they are processed.

We strive to ensure that your personal data is accurate and up to date. Please help us to achieve this by notifying us of any changes in your personal details.

Storage limitation

Data will be kept only for as long as you are a member, volunteer or employee of MWT or for as long as you have another relationship with MWT, for example, a contractor.

Integrity and confidentiality

We process data in ways that ensure its security including protection against unauthorised or unlawful processing and against accidental loss, destruction or damage.  Your data is held securely on our Password Protected IT systems. Access to it is limited to the staff and/or volunteers who have specific responsibilities for managing the data and using it for legitimate or consented purposes.

If you have any queries about your personal data held by MWT, please contact Graham Makepeace-Warne on 844432 or graham@manxwt.org.uk Any unresolved issues will be raised with MWT’s CEO and you have the right to raise any concerns with the islands’ Information Commissioner. Any identified data breach likely to be a risk to an individual or MWT will be referred to the Information Commissioner within 72 hours of its discovery.

Manx Wildlife Trust does not sell, trade or rent your personal information to others. This information will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent unless required by law. The Data Protection Act allows you to have access to information held about you and, where appropriate, to have it corrected or deleted. There is a maximum charge of £10 for providing a copy. Visitors to our website responding to advertisements should satisfy themselves that they know how their personal information will be used.
