Island Escapes partners with Manx Wildlife Trust to operate Thie Vunn and donates £5,000 to support conservation

Island Escapes’ and Manx Wildlife Trust’s (MWT) partnership has taken another step forward as the Island’s leading holiday lettings agency will manage the day-to-day running of Thie Vunn, a historic property in Peel that provides accommodation and a shared base for MWT’s Island-wide conservation internship programme.

As part of the partnership, Island Escapes has also donated £5,000 from its charity fund to support the wider work of MWT.

Thie Vunn will house up to four interns each year, enabling early-career conservationists from the Isle of Man, the UK and the UK Overseas Territories to take part in high-quality placements across MWT’s land, sea and community projects. By overseeing bookings, maintenance and operational management of the property, Island Escapes will help ensure interns have a safe, welcoming and well-run place to live while they focus on their work protecting the Island’s wildlife.

The £5,000 contribution will help MWT deliver its charitable work to restore Manx nature for the future.

MWT

Thie Vunn is central to our ambition to offer fair, accessible and high-quality conservation internships. Partnering with Island Escapes gives us professional support in running the property, while their generous £5,000 donation helps ensure MWT’s work continues. It is another strong example of how values-led tourism businesses can play a direct role in supporting nature recovery and skills development in the Isle of Man.

Manx Wildlife Trust
We are proud to be working with Manx Wildlife Trust on Thie Vunn. The internship programme is inspiring, and providing a reliable, well-managed home for interns felt like a practical way for Island Escapes to contribute. Donating £5,000 from our charity fund is part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the landscapes and wildlife that make the Isle of Man such a special place to visit and live.

The partnership builds on a long-standing relationship between Island Escapes and MWT, which has already seen more than £25,000 raised through customer donations since 2018. Together, both organisations hope the collaboration will strengthen opportunities for the next generation of conservation professionals while delivering lasting benefits for nature on the Isle of Man.
