Year 7-11 Kick Sampling Practical

Kick sampling is a useful method for surveying invertebrates in shallow, flowing water, and can be used as an indicator of health in a ecosystem. Bring your class on a trip with our education officer to learn about conservation on the Isle of Man and our river's freshwater species.

Overview: A kick sampling practical to measure for the abundance of invertebrate indicator species in a stream.

Curriculum Link: Edexcel GCSE Science Biology Core Practical 6 (Sampling).

Location: Please let us know on the enquiry form if you have a location in mind. If not we can advise a suitable stream/river near you.

We will provide: A student workbook containing an explanation of indicator species, a methodology, a table to record data, a graph to fill in, and analysis questions. All the necessary equipment including nets and identification guides.
