Rockpooling teacher training

Teacher Training

Manx Wildlife Trust education officer delivers several sessions each year to help teachers develop skills in various fields. These sessions can be delivered outdoors, for instance on the beach for a rockpooling session, on your school grounds or during a staff meeting.

Rockpooling training for teachers: take a trip to the beach to identify rockpool critters and how to handle them safely. We will look into tide times, potential dangers and risk assessments to organise a safe and exciting rockpooling trip with your students.

Wild Training: learn how to turn your school grounds into a natural biodiversity classroom. We will look into invertebrate's classification and species adaptations, how to handle and study them safely and risk assessments.

Outdoor risk assessments: an ideal staff-meeting session to learn about specific outdoor learning risk assessments.

National glens and MWT reserves: an ideal staff-meeting session to discuss places on Island and opportunities for learning as well as practical info on organising a field trip outdoors.

Please contact our education officer at education@mwt.im to book us for a staff meeting or signal your interest and we will let you know when new dates become available. Feel free to let us know what teacher training is needed for your staff.
