MWT Festival of the Sea
Event details
About the event
Step into a giant marquee on the Port Erin Breakwater, beside the RNLI Lifeboat Station, and discover the incredible underwater world surrounding the Isle of Man at Manx Wildlife Trust’s Festival of the Sea.
For one extraordinary weekend, our divers carefully collect live marine creatures from Manx waters and bring them face-to-face with the public in our famous marine mega tanks. From colourful sea stars and crabs to strange, fascinating creatures many people never realise live beneath the waves around our Island, this is a rare chance to experience Manx marine life up close before every animal is safely returned to the sea.
Get to know the wide variety of colourful and fascinating sea life that exists all around us.
The Festival of the Sea is packed with interactive activities, hands-on learning, games, competitions, family fun and opportunities to meet marine experts, divers and conservationists. Whether you’re peering into a mega tank, discovering the secrets of rockpool life or learning how healthy seas support the Isle of Man’s wildlife, heritage and future, there’s something for all ages.
The sea shapes life on the Isle of Man - from wildlife and fisheries to culture, climate and coastal communities. Festival of the Sea celebrates that connection while inspiring people to help protect our extraordinary marine environment for generations to come.
It’s lively, fascinating, unforgettable and one of the Island’s most remarkable wildlife events of the year. All hands on deck.
