About Me
As both a visual artist and as a songwriter, the Manx landscape has been a huge inspiration to my creative practice over the years. Growing up on a small island teaches you to appreciate the beauty of your surroundings, and as artists we tend to carry that appreciation wherever we go.
My creative practice has always been shaped by our island and its stories, and I'm so excited to be able to develop my own practice while hopefully bringing people together in appreciation of all the things which make our island so special. The fact that I have the chance to really explore and deepen my own connection with nature and how it shapes and inspires my work is just the icing on the cake for me.
I think we have a unique perspective living on the Isle of Man. Nestled in the middle of the Irish Sea, we are surrounded by nature, culture and community wherever we go. Our everyday lives can often be rooted in old customs and traditions, and that distinctive Manx experience which we sometimes take for granted should be celebrated.
My Residency Goals
With this year marking ten years since the Isle of Man was named a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, as well as 2026 being the Year of the Manx Language, there is so much about our Island we should be celebrating. During my residency, I'll be reflecting on the ways in which the Island's culture and nature are intertwined, and how the Manx language can shape the way we connect with our home.
My residency will focus on collaboration and connection, bringing together artists, writers, musicians, scientists and the community as a whole to explore the Manx landscape, language and stories through workshops, performances and exhibitions. From artists and musicians to scientists and storytellers, connecting people with our island and with one another is at the very heart of this project.
