Manx Wildlife Trust is offering a number of internship opportunities as part of its growing internship programme, designed to support early careers in conservation, engagement and environmental work. Based within the Isle of Man UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, these internships provide a unique opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience while contributing to meaningful conservation. The Marine Intern is one of four internship roles available and focuses on marine conservation, research and public engagement across the Island’s coastal and marine environments.
What you’ll be doing
- Supporting shoreline surveys, marine mammal monitoring and data collection
- Assisting with marine research, data management and reporting
- Helping deliver marine engagement events, talks and school visits
- Contributing to marine communications and awareness campaigns
- Supporting invasive species monitoring and biosecurity awareness
- Assisting with marine policy, protection and reserve-related work
- Taking part in key projects such as the Calf of Man seal pupping census
This is a varied, field-based role with opportunities to work alongside the Marine Officer and Conservation Team, including coastal work and occasional boat-based activity.

Accommodation and support
Interns are provided with shared residential accommodation at Thie Vunn in Peel, a comfortable base close to MWT headquarters and the coast.
You will also have access to:

- All necessary PPE, equipment and training

Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Passionate about marine conservation and the natural environment
- Confident working outdoors and around the sea
- Able to collect and handle data accurately
- A clear communicator and team player
- Reliable, adaptable and willing to learn
This role is suited to someone with a background in marine science, ecology or conservation. A relevant degree is required.
