The Assistant Volunteer Bird Warden is a hands-on, full-season placement based on the Calf of Man, supporting the Ornithological Warden in running the Calf Bird Observatory on behalf of Manx National Heritage. From early March to the end of October, you’ll take part in daily bird monitoring and ringing, breeding seabird surveys and sea watches, while also helping with habitat management, equipment maintenance and data entry.
The role suits someone confident with bird identification and field recording, comfortable working in a small team in a remote coastal setting, and keen to contribute to one of the Isle of Man’s most important wildlife sites. Accommodation, travel to and from the Calf, and a weekly food allowance are provided, alongside training and PPE where needed.
This role is subject to MWT being awarded the contract to manage the site. The recruitment is being run in advance to allow timely appointment if the contract is confirmed, and does not imply that the contract has been awarded.
