MWT attends UKOTCF online conference

We were delighted to be part of this year's UKOTCF conference, online due to Covid-19.

Manx Wildlife Trust (MWT) were delighted to be a part of the UK Oversees Territories Conservation Forum (UKOTCF) on-line conference for 2021, titled 'Staying Connected for Conservation in a Changed World:
UKOTCF’s 6th conference on conservation and sustainability in UK Overseas Territories, Crown Dependencies and other small island states'.

The conference was held via Zoom on the 2nd, 3rd, 9th & 10th March 2021.

MWT submitted two posters, one by Mires and Volunteer Officer, Sarah Hickey, on the Manx Mires Partnership, and the other was a joint effort from Marine Officer, Dr Lara Howe, and one of last years Calf Seal Survey Volunteers, Breeshey Harkin. Their poster was 'A review of pupping and site fidelity trends in the grey seal (Halichoerus grypus) on the Calf of Man from 2009 – 2020; implications for population structure and dynamics in the wider Irish Sea region and future management strategies'.

MWT CEO, Leigh Morris, also gave a presentation on 'Behaviour Change for Conservation - ways to inspire more people to do something positive for nature'.

It was great to be joined by the Isle of Man Government Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture (DEFA), who presented today with an update on the delivery of the IOM Biodiversity Strategy.
