A-Level Kick Sampling Practical

Kick sampling is a useful method for surveying invertebrates in shallow, flowing water, and species can be used as an indicator of health in a ecosystem. Take the opportunity to bring your A-Level students on a field trip with our education officer to learn about this sampling method and other conservation opportunities.

Overview: A kick sampling practical to measure for the abundance of invertebrate indicator species in a stream to determine the relationship between species abundance and water quality.

We will provide: A student workbook to draw and annotate key indicator species, define key terms, record data, plot findings on a graph and answer analysis questions. All the necessary equipment including tape measure, quadrats, and identification guides.
