Close y Corvalley is a agroecology/nature-friendly farming trial site on a seasonally wet plain. It is not a nature reserve in the traditional sense but aims to highlight the connectivity between food production and nature to a wide audience.

Mid-autumn to see migratory thrushes and winter birds arriving in the area. Summer to see a wealth of invertebrates.

About the reserve

The management of Close y Corvalley was taken over by Manx Wildlife Trust in 2026 to use as an agroecology and nature-friendly farming/horticulture site. The site is not a traditional nature reserve, but does sit on the edge of the Ballaugh Curragh ASSI and Ramsar wetland; a lowland fen area which is internationally renowned for its biodiversity.
