About the event

Speckled Bush Crickets are common across southern and central England but become much less frequent in the colder, wetter conditions of the north and west. On the Isle of Man, they have only been recorded at a handful of sites and are therefore protected under the Wildlife Act.

Our walk will take us down the glen and onto the beach, with the option of a lift by car for anyone who would prefer not to walk the steeper section. Along the way, we'll explore the fascinating fly larvae living in the fast-flowing freshwater, investigate the base of the cliffs, and search for a variety of invertebrates beneath stones.

We'll also be keeping an eye out for ants, and we're hoping ant expert Andrew Jarman will be joining us to help identify the species we find and share his expertise.
